AUGUST 2020 Update

Dear Christ Community family,

While COVID and social unrest may make us feel like we're in an endless cloud of dust and confusion, God's kingdom is advancing, and His purposes still stand.

“I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.'"

Our call to view history from God’s perspective enables us to look ahead with hope and to live in light of eternity. In light of this, we want to communicate some fall plans for Christ Community Church.

NEW SERMON SERIES
This Sunday we’re beginning a study through the book of Revelation. The Lord reigns, now and forevermore!

SUNDAY SERVICE TIMES
We’ll continue our two service times, 9AM and 11AM, until further COVID guidance is given.

NURSERY
Welcome, Ellen Chandlee, as our new nursery coordinator! Nursery will start back on Sept 6 during the 11am service only. We will be paying special attention to sanitizing protocols. Nursery will be for infants through 3 years.
We are needing volunteers to help serve in the nursery. Email Ellen at ellenchandlee@gmail.com, or call/text 205-516-3755, if you would like to serve. We are requesting that all nursery volunteers wear a mask while with the children. We are excited to have the kids back in the nursery!

CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP
We will not be having children’s discipleship on Sundays for the time being. Instead, we’re looking to equip parents to lead their children to Jesus through family worship!
As part of our CCC home ministry to your children, we will be going through The Story for Kids (ages 8-12) and/or The Story for Little Ones (ages 2-7). This study is an abridged, chronological Bible curriculum. Our hope is that this book, along with the supplemental activities, will help you and your family find regular time during the week to study scripture together. You may order the books on Amazon, or you may email Renee Whorton (thewhortons@bellsouth.net) with your order and give a check to the church by August 19th. For those who order books through the church, your books, along with a "kickoff treat" will be delivered to your house on Wednesday, August 26th. We will start the study on August 31st. The study guides and supplemental activities will be posted weekly to the church website (www.christcommunity.net). If you have any questions, please contact Renee Whorton.

COMMUNITY GROUPS
Community groups will begin again in September. We will have options for in-person and online. If you have any questions, please contact Butch Mayhew (utchbe@gmail.com).
